Eclipse

Dear Franklin Families,

We hope you are all safe and fared well during our unexpected natural event over spring break!  Recognizing there may be aftershocks from the earthquake this week, please note that during the remodeling of the building, precautions were put in place for the building to meet updated earthquake structural standards.

Eclipse information

We want to offer some options for those of you who would like to experience the eclipse with your children.

For families who prefer to have their students at home during the eclipse, we completely respect your decision. We would also like to give you the option of an early pick-up between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m.  Please come to the office if you choose this option. There will be no early buses transporting students home.

For those who choose to keep their students at school until the end of the day, we will have the following measures in place. From 2:00 p.m. until dismissal, all shades will be drawn to protect against the eclipse's rays, and students will not be permitted outside. The buses do not have shades so if you would prefer to take your child home and they are scheduled as a bus rider, please contact the office.

Teachers will have been provided educational materials to incorporate into the day so that students can learn about this fascinating celestial event in a safe and controlled environment.

If you have any questions or concerns leading up to the eclipse, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to seeing all the Fireballs tomorrow!
