Here is some information on the Covid vaccine for students age 5 through 11 years. I also have a reminder on Covid symptoms and testing.
Covid Vaccine
If your child is going to receive the Covid Vaccine, please provide a copy of their vaccine card/ Immunization record to the Health Office. The vaccine will be documented in their Health File. The Pfizer Vaccine is now available for ages 5 through 11 years. It is a two- dose series, given three weeks apart. You are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after the second dose. The fact sheet is available at https://www.fda.gov/media/153717/download. To find a vaccine site, visit covid19.nj.gov/finder. Some Pharmacies and Pediatrician offices may also be providing the vaccine or having clinics.
Covid Symptoms
Please do not send your child to school when they are sick. Students with the following symptoms should be isolated from others, and excluded from school:
At least two of the following symptoms: fever, chills, shivers, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion or runny nose. OR
At least one symptom of: cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of smell, new loss of taste.
They will need a Covid test and be isolated from others until the test results are returned.
If a student is being tested for Covid any siblings also need to be home until the test results are returned.
Please provide the Health Office with a copy of the Covid test results.
Per the Health Department home based self- tests are not acceptable to rule out Covid 19 i
nfection.
Covid Testing Sites
There are many testing sites available. Most Pediatrician Offices have testing available and Pharmacies but you must make an appointment. There are two local testing Vans. There is a testing van in the parking lot of Warren Vocational School on Thursday from 3pm to 7pm. There is also a testing van at Warren Hills High School in the left side parking lot on Monday and Friday from 12:30 to 7pm.
