Healthy Information

February is Dental Health Month
This is a good time to review dental care with your child(ren) and to evaluate the dental health of your family.

If you live in Franklin Township and have a child or know of a Family with a child who will be
5 years old on or before Oct. 1, please contact the school.  We are in the process of planning our needs for the 16-17 school year.

This is the time of year that we will be seeing an increase in illness such as the stomach virus or the flu.  Here is some helpful information:

•  Continue to stress good hand washing with your children.  They should be washing as long as it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.  It is the best way to prevent the spread of infection.
Stress to your children to cough into their elbow.  If they use a tissue, they should wash their hands immediately after using one.
•  Bringing a water bottle to school will help keep your child hydrated.  I encourage this all year round.
•  Clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces using a bleach-based household cleaner as directed on the product label.  Never use undiluted bleach.
•  Children should be fever free for 24 hours without medication (Tylenol or Advil) and on antibiotics for 24 hours if prescribed, before returning to school.
•  If your child has had the stomach virus, they should be feeling well (no nausea, vomiting, fever, or diarrhea for 24 hours) and be able to eat a normal meal (without getting or feeling sick) before returning to school.
•  Please notify the School Nurse if your child is diagnosed with the flu, strep throat, conjunctivitis or any other contagious illness diagnosed by the Physician.  It helps us to monitor what illnesses are occurring.  They should also bring in a Physicians note stating when they are able to return to school.
•  PLEASE keep your child home if they are ill!
